TennCare insurance for many milled-Tennesseans is critical to their health, especially those in addiction recovery. TennCare’s Suboxone (buprenorphine & naloxone) coverage is a little different than some other insurance providers.
Here’s what we know about TennCare’s Suboxone Reimbursement as of Thursday, January 11, 2018:
Doctor Visits – TennCare’s reimbursement to a Suboxone clinic for the visit is not enough to pay the doctor and/or therapist. Most clinics will require the patient to pay “out of pocket” due to this reason.
Medicine – TennCare will pay for a buprenorphine & naloxone program with prior authorization. However, it TennCare’s plan covers only Bunavail. Bunavail contains the same two chemicals Suboxone does, so this is not a problem for most patients. Bunavail gets placed on the inside of your cheek vs. being placed under the tongue. The efficacy is nearly identical to Suboxone, Zubsolv, and generic brands containing buprenorphine & naloxone.
Lab Work – TennCare will pay for urine drug testing, as well as bi-annual blood tests, so there’s no charge for this if you have TennCare.
Pro Tip – Be sure your clinic is willing to do (and is proficient at) TennCare prior authorizations. Not only do some Suboxone clinics not do prior authorizations, some tend to do them incorrectly. This means you’ll have to wait days or even weeks to get your medicine.
Nashville Recovery is happy to file your TennCare prior authorization quickly and correctly, so you get your medicine as quickly as possible. Not only that, but Nashville Recovery can even offer you free Zubsolv medication (buprenorphine & naloxone) for up to two weeks, so you can get your meds the same day as your visit, and get your prior authorization approved.*
Stop wasting time shopping for a Nashville Suboxone clinic – Nashville Recovery is the only clinic you need to call.
